  • 'down payment' is wrong!

    downpayment is a part of the total payment for the house. the Total payment = downpayment + the loan

    the question here is about 'the first payment for the mortgage (the loan)'.

  • Hi, hly, read the Chinese question carefully. Here are two concepts:

    买房首付：downpayment - the initial payment made when buying the house on loan (the house costs the initial payment + loan). Downpayment goes to the seller.
    贷款首期付款：the first instalment of the mortgage (payback to the lender, e.g., bank)
